Picture I took from my camera phone on the walkway between Bally's and Caesar's Palace, above the street.
We went to Vegas last weekend and had a great time. We stayed at Bally's which we enjoyed. They have great restaurants and our favorite was their Asian restaurant with impeccable service and food. Diane was lucky and won $1500 at the Hilton where she and her friend were staying. We would also recommend the Mexican restaurant at the Hilton, terrific. We loved the monorail between Ballly's and the Hilton to get back and forth. Diane had a great suite there. Her friend Joanna met her there and they had a great time. They went shopping with their winnings the next day!
The reason we went to Vegas was to see Joe's team, the Drake Bulldogs, play in a UNLV soccer tournament. They played UNLV on Friday night and tied 2-2 in double overtime. It was a difficult game and a heartbreaker. The weather was a mess for the game. There was a torrential downpour which we were not prepared for and we got soaked to our underwear. There was a 50 minute lightning postponement. Finally we left and had to walk about a half mile to the nearest hotel to get a taxi. Of course taxis were running two hours late outside the strip so the shuttle driver at the Embassy Suites where we were sheltered from the storm took pity on us and drove us to Planet Hollywood, where some guests were going not far from Bally. Then we could walk to our hotel. After that Ralph and I were pooped and went to bed. The girls rode the monorail to their hotel and gambled and Diane and Joanna won money!
The next day, Saturday, we went to the game between Drake and San Diego State which was another heartbreaker. The weather was great if a little breezy and somewhat cool actually. Drake lost in double overtime (again!) 2-1. That night Joe drove us to the Hard Rock Hotel which was close by the hotel the team was staying at, to get a cab back to our hotel. Then Joanna, Diane and I went to the Improv Comedy Club at Harrah's and saw Adam Ferrerra (in Rescue Me, TV show on FX)who did a great stand up act. When I got back to the hotel I gambled a little and did quite well.
Sunday, Ralph and I met Joanna and Diane for breakfast at Bally's before we left for the plane. Ralph and I won a little and lost a little so came back with more money that we expected to so it was a success as far as the gambling we did! We didn't lose our shirts! We got home that night about 11 pm and were pooped but had a great trip!
